A new global coalition, the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC), was launched on September 18, 2017, at the UN Headquarters in New York. EPIC includes the UN International Labour Organization(ILO), UN Women, and the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).


According to the press release, The Equal Pay International Coalition will “bring together a diverse set of actors at the global, regional, and national levels to support governments, employers, and workers, and their organizations, and other stakeholders, to make equal pay between women and men for work of equal value a reality. The goal connected to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular, Target 8.5, which calls for equal pay for work of equal value; As well as empowering women for promoting gender equality.


SInce 1919,The International Labor Organization (ILO) is the only tripartite U.N. agency with government, employer, and worker representatives. The member states and ILO other social partners can freely open debate and elaborate labor standards and policies.
