WPTV Reported By Xumin Zhou:The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development is a United Nations central platform for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, adopted at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in 2015. The Forum, which adopts a Ministerial Declaration, is expected to start effectively delivering on its mandates this July to provide political leadership, guidance and recommendations on the 2030 Agenda's implementation and follow-up; keep track of progress; spur coherent policies informed by evidence, science and country experiences; as well as address new and emerging issues.
HLPF in 2016 is the first since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. The session will include voluntary reviews of 22 countries and thematic reviews of progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, including cross-cutting issues, supported by reviews by the ECOSOC functional commissions and other inter-governmental bodies and forums.
This side event’s general objective is to show what evaluation can contribute towards supporting inclusive and equitable development progress in line with the Agenda 2030 commitment to ensure that “no one is left behind”.
The side event’s panel discussion, led by country representatives, senior policy makers and evaluation specialists, will discuss what the techniques and practices of the evaluation profession can bring to the table for SDGs follow up and review processes at national and global level.
